Back at Base Camp resting and recuperating after spending an accelerated 5 days climbing and acclimatizing at Camps 1 (6,100m) and 2 (6,700m) - conditions at the latter were particularly grueling it has to be said. As with most of the climbers at Base Camp, that's it now for the acclimatization phase, now it's the wait for a 5 day weather window from 22nd or so onwards for a summit attempt - the number of days climbing it will take to reach the top. Meanwhile, K2 continues to loom 3,600m above us here at Base Camp, unable to avoid hypnotically gazing at its foreboding sides.........Updates and pictures brought by the kind support of Thuraya and UAE distributors Xtralink.
