In high altitude mountaineering nothing is ever certain and as is the case this year. Plan A – to attempt the world’s 3rd highest peak, Kanchenjunga in Nepal, failed to materialize as couldn’t get a strong enough team together.
Thus I’ve been planning and now announcing plan B – summiting the world’s 4th and 5th highest mountains, also both in Nepal, in a double header project. Will attempt #5, Makalu (8481m), first in April/May, then, fitness and mental health permitting, take a chopper to Everest Base Camp and attempt #4, Llotse (8516m), at the end of May. Summiting any 8000m peak is a huge physical drain that wipes you out totally, so will be a new experience trying two. but looking forward to connecting with old friends and the magic of Nepal again. All being well will attempt Kanchenjunga in Spring 2016 when hopefully get a team together. Updates on the Makalu and Lhotse project on here and www.facebook.com/adrianmahayes.
