For those of you residing in the UK – and London or surrounding areas in particular - I will be delivering a presentation on 60 years of K2, the tragic events of my unsuccessful 2013 attempt and our return summit success this July, to take place at the Royal Geographical Society, Kensington, London next Tuesday, 9th September, from 7-9 pm.

On a distinct gamble, we organised this with the RGS at the end of 2013 at the same time as booking my ‘Footsteps of Thesiger’ evening, which took place in January. Pleased that the hunch paid off – had there not been success this summer there would be no event next week.

As has transpired, there is an immensely powerful story to be told of the huge contrast between two years on the 60th anniversary of K2’s first ascent and I hope there is something for everyone with an interest in the mountains of the world, the great outdoors and human behavior.

I will also be signing copies of my book ‘Footsteps of Thesiger’, which chronicles my 44 day and 1600 km journey across the Arabian desert in the trail of Sir Wilfred Thesiger, after the presentation.

Hope to see you there!
