Following two very successful "premieres" of our Empty Quarter expedition that took place in Abu Dhabi and Dubai this month, many people form around the World have sent messages asking where/when/how they can see the film; whether it will be available on DVD adnd whether there is a book coming out. Here are the updates:
Documentary. Distribution for Middle East, International and the UK is currently being negoitated between film producers Twofour of the UK, film owners Abu Dhabi Media and interested broadcasters. This is both for the current 50 minute (commercial 1 hour) version and the hopeful longer version.
Given that the 50 mimute film had to include a number of important cultural milestones during the 44 day journey - and doesn't really convey the full hardships encountered during the expedition - it is my and others involved sincere hope that the longer version is funded and produced. Twofour have ampe footage for the latter
Book. This was always part of the deal with Motivate Publishings support sponsorship of the journey. The book "Footsteps of Thesiger", including a wealth of the fantastic photogrraphs we have from the trip, will be published pre- Christmas this year.
